The TRIBUTE TO BAMBI initiative, held each year on the eve of the BAMBI ceremony, was first launched by BUNTE in 2001. Its aim is to draw the attention of the media and the big names to various charitable institutions and associations that do not receive any state aid and are therefore reliant on donations.
The project was devised by BUNTE boss Patricia Riekel and Philipp Welte, Managing Director of the Burda People Group. As Welte explains, “media attention is essentially the most valuable asset you can have today and that is why BAMBI provides the ideal context in which to support people in need”. Over recent years, the No Angels, Macy Gray, Kylie Minogue, Boris Becker and Nena are just some of the celebrities who have lent their support to disadvantaged children. In order to reach as wide an audience as possible, the Burda People Group chooses a bigger business each year as co-organiser of the event.
