It is 8 p.m. and the lounge of Burda Medien Park Verlage is crowded with employees, customers and celebrities. Astronauts float over people’s heads; in the background, an image film shows the effects of climate change. Then the curtain is raised: it is time to walk along the plant-lined “Green Carpet", a true jungle oasis. Another short stop for a photo with a stag on artificial turf, star feeling in a flurry of flashbulbs – and finally, the guests arrive at the canteen, entering the world of Burda Music Night.
Following a climate forum in the afternoon, the second Burda Music Night on Tuesday also focused on green lifestyle and climate protection. Dressed in a matching green silk robe, presenter Barbara Schöneberger welcomed the guests and was pleased with the big crowd: “When you are invited to the Offenburg Medien Park, you can always expect a cool party.”
"The second Burda Music Night also rocked the avatars in the virtual world of Second Life," stated Peter Elfert, Managing Director Marketing and Communication. Real visitors and digital guests even managed to wave at each other during a short live stream.
According to the afternoon’s motto, “Live green and enjoy it”, there was a steady coming and going of stars on stage who entertained the guests while promoting climate protection. Orange Blue (who claim to be thinking about changing their name to “Orange Green”), Annett Louisan, musical star Angelika Milster, newcomer Ian O’Brien-Docker and Reamonn presented songs people could sing along and dance to.
The evening’s highlight: A spontaneous duet of Front Office staff member Andrea Wolters and Nevio. “So far I hadn’t found anyone who was willing to sing the song with me. And as Nevio is here tonight and has a great voice, I thought I’d use the opportunity,” said Wolters whose performance was well received by the audience. DJ Munich played out while colleagues and customers partied the night away.
