Hubert Burda Media organizes the distribution of its entire magazine portfolio via MZV ("Moderner Zeitschriften Vertrieb”), which is owned in equal parts by Burda and the WAZ media group.
By consolidating the distribution activities, a both nationally and internationally operating press distribution business has been created that generates revenues of more than € 500 million.
With a market share of 20 per cent in Germany, the joint venture ranks second in the German press distribution market following the Axel Springer publishing house and ahead of publisher Heinrich Bauer, and first with regard to magazine distribution. Of the 100 most successful magazines on sale in the German market, 37 are currently published or distributed by the partners.
MZV supplies, through the highly developed German Grosso distribution system, which consists of 69 wholesale establishments, almost 120,000 print media carriers in retail. Additionally, 137 reader circles, more than 450 bookshops in railway stations as well as numerous importers abroad and airlines are provided with magazines.
